MOLECULAR BEAM SKIMMERS

We provide metal skimmers for molecular beam systems. Skimmers are manufactured by the method of electroforming. Wall thickness of skimmers is in range of 200 micron at the basement.  The used wall thickness is enough for the pressure difference between the chambers of most known experimental setups. The wall thickness becomes bigger to the tip, but the tip  is sharp as a knife. The orifice edge thickness (>10 micron) is finished manually with a microscope control.  The edge sharpness can be chosen by the customer if it is necessary. The orifice sizes are shown in the table below , but they can be customized at an additional charge.

We use a parabolic shape of skimmer, but, if necessary, it can be conic. The parabolic shape can be used in cases when there is a problem with space. The tip angle of a parabolic skimmer is around 30 degrees. It is possible to order a conic shape skimmer which provides better signal but has bigger dimensions. The tip of a conic skimmer can be manufactured with customized angle (typically from 25 to 40 degrees) at an additional charge. The angle of a conic skimmer is 18-35 degrees (depends on Model).

We have added the new model of the skimmer - rectangular.
